🚇 The Future of K’ Road is around the corner! 🚇 After nearly five years of hard work, Karanga-a-Hape Station is set to transform the way we experience K’ Road. With platforms 33 metres underground and urban upgrades to the streetscape around Mercury Lane and Beresford Square, this station will soon become a central point of movement and culture. The design, influenced by local iwi artist Reuben Kirkwood and mana whenua, celebrates both Aotearoa’s rich history and its bright future. From sky elements symbolising Tāne Mahuta to a station surrounded by light-filled plazas, Karanga-a-Hape is a space designed to reflect our community’s unique spirit.  More about the event… Te Karanga a Hape is K’ Road’s popular Matariki street party, taking place on the eve of the 2024 Matariki public holiday. This year’s theme is 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗶 𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗮 / 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, which celebrates the staunchly progressive spirit of Karangahape Road, a thoroughfare of free-thinkers and a hotbed for innovation and growth. They have an intentional and well-crafted sound, drawing from various indie and alternative rock influences, as well as lyrical elements reminiscent of many midwest emo bands. ⚡️THE IDEAS are a two-piece noise blues band from Auckland with Max Leask on guitar and vocals and Josiah Weston on drums. They’re groovy, aggressive, and they’re bringing excitement and loud energy to the Pocket Park Stage. ⚡️BLUSH.MP3 is a trans feminine DJ and artist from Tamaki Makaurau and founder of DOLLHOUSE. They describe their sound as all over the place. Focused on genre blending, Blush plays global club sets that take you on a fast paced journey through many different genres and influences. Their goal is to introduce the crowd to new sounds and artists that they may not have heard before, and most importantly to make the audience feel hot, sexy, alive and free!!!
